Today’s
family photo is in honor of mom and DeAnna. Both of their birthdays were this week. Mom’s on the 27th and De’s on the 28th.
Looking back on life when Mom was my age and younger, I have a whole new admiration for her. We didn’t have a lot of money but we always had a lovely home, food on the table and clothes to wear. Mom and I often joke about hating to sew, but in spite of that hatred she did a lot of home sewing for us girls. I remember grocery shopping and we would go to the three local grocery stores to buy just the things on sale. We would
have quite the creative meal, but like I said, we always had something to eat. Mom is a survivor and has instilled that in all of us girls. Thanks for all you did Mom to make our family what it is today. You have quite the legacy. Happy Birthday, I love you. My oldest sister Darla did a tribute to Mom on her actual birth date on her blog here.
Mom was thirty when De was born. I remember when a family friend picked us up from school and told us we had a new baby brother we were shocked and surprised we had a brother. There had been some kind of miscommunication and everyone had been told that the new baby was a boy. Surprise, surprise , surprise! When we got to the hospital
we found out in fact we had a new baby sister. At that time we lived in a really small two bedroom house and lived there until De was about one. I do remember that DeAnna was a biter. She also got to go to a pediatrician, and we always heard “give it to the baby or let the baby have it.” I was eight when De was born so I don’t remember a whole lot of her childhood as I was too big and too busy to pay her much attention. I do remember her and Lavonna coming to spend the weekend with me in the dorm when I was a student at West Texas. That was fun. So Happy Birthday Little Sis. I love you.

We were hoping that we'd have a boy the fourth time, but God didn't think we needed a boy. We believe we were the most blessed people on earth to have the four girls we got! Believe it or not, now we have four wonderful sons, too! I couldn't have done better if I'd picked them myself! We do love all of them. Love, Mom
Great blog!! I love your familia!!
