Goblins, Ghouls, & Ghosts, Oh, My

We had several goblins visit our house today for Trick or Treating. In addition to our family that came by we had about 200-300 regular trick or treaters. I stopped giving out candy for Halloween several years ago as we are swamped by hordes of people from all over the city since we live in the “rich” neighborhood. Most people think I exaggerate, but they got to see the real thing tonight because Hester wanted to give out candy. She started out giving two to three pieces to everyone. I told her she would run out. After about an hour ( 7:30) we were almost half way done with the candy so she started giving out one per person. Then Hester said, “What is it with all these grown-ups in costumes Trick or Treating?” I said, “I told you. It’s incredible.” Can’t they just go to the store and buy a $3 bag of candy and if they go tomorrow the candy will all be reduced to half price. Go figure. Anyway, I don’t like it at all, but we participated tonight for the kids sake I guess. Thanks goodness it is over for another year. Here are the photos from our kids.

papi Since we don’t have kids to torture with costumes, we torture our dog. We got this for Papi back in the Spring. He had outgrown it so we took pictures and took it off of him. It looks like a lizard is eating him.

brysonCutest little Flying Monkey you will ever see. Bryson also outgrew his costume. It was really tight, but once again, we made him wear it. Some people thought he was a cow. When have you ever seen wings on a cow?????

avi While we were waiting for Hester, Laurie and their kids to come over, we were playing around with the vintage masks. They are hilarious. Can you guess who this is?

2009_10_31_5563 What about this Geisha girl? Who is that???? Keep reading and you can figure it out by her costume without the vintage mask on.

2009_10_31_5573 Then Randy, Tina and John came by. John was a prize fighter complete with a black eye. He decided he liked passing out candy, but usually he would put one in the other kids bucket and then take one out. He didn’t quite get the concept of giving candy. He was so cute though.

group Most of the group, minus Mallory. I’m not sure where she was. Isn’t Sophia’s gnome costume the cutest thing you’ve ever seen. Blake was a mummy, Azariah was King Kong, Ethan was Death, Sara was a cute lady bug and Tzipi was Snow White.

All in all it was a pretty nice evening, but even after we came in the house and turned off the lights we still had kids ringing the bell and knocking on the door until almost 10:00. Crazy!

I owe you an apology…I am so sorry! For years I have not understood why you did NOT pass out candy for Halloween. I love passing out candy…I might see 25-50 cute little kids dressed up. I love handing out treats!!
When we first drove into your neighborhood tonight I was SHOCKED!! I mean jaw dropping to the floor shocked!!! I never realized that there were 100’s of people…I mean 1000’s of people! It was insane!! Completely insane!! And 95% of the people were definitely NOT from your neighborhood. Okay…so they were not from your neighborhood…well alright….but they were RUDE!!! Like they were entitled…it was your responsibility to have good candy!!!! Half of the kids were not in costumes…nobody saying “trick or treat”…and no “thank you”!!! UGH!!! Just trying to leave that area was a nightmare!! My blood pressure shot up…heck it is shooting up typing this response!!! Insanity! I told Randy I was going to write a letter to the newspaper about the insanity!!!
I DO NOT blame you and I wouldn’t pass out candy again. I think your area should BOYCOTT Halloween – seriously!!! John will trick or treat you a day early next year!!

ALL of your babies looked cute!!!

BTW – the rest of the night we would ask John…”what do you think of Uncle Kevin”…and he would say…”no-no-no-no”!
